TV on DVD - Creature Features
"Gruesome ghouls and grisly ghosts, Wretched souls and cursed hosts, Vampires bite and villains creep, Demons scream and shadows sleep. Blood runs cold in every man, Fog rolls in and coffins slam, Mortals quake and full moon rise, Creatures haunt and terrorize...", read by WGN's Carl Greyson and later, Marty McNeely.
Creature Features and the Gruesome Ghoul introduced Chicagoans to the classic Universal movie monsters. The program was enjoyed by millions from September 1970 through May 1976, airing on Saturday Nights at 10:30pm on WGN, Channel 9. The creepy image was based on Lon Chaney, Sr.'s character in the 1927 lost silent film, "London After Midnight". The haunting theme was Henry Mancini's "Experiment in Terror".
